A New Bib Design

I've been working on more bibs this weekend for Elizabeth and to list in my Etsy shop. I finished 5 today (except for the velcro), 4 of which are using a new design for front-fastening velcro. These types of bibs are much easier for me to remove after feeding.

OH! I just realized that I posted my first bib, but haven't posted the second batch I made! So, here you go. I've added bibs to my Etsy shop, too.

Sewing Kit Tin

I haven't posted anything here in a while. I'm having a hard enough time keeping up with my main blog! But I made this a few weeks ago (before school & work started!) and just took pictures of it. It's a tin I bought at a craft store and decoupaged with a mixture of old and new papers. I have a tiny sewing kit inside. Front:

A New Bib

After reading some of the information on recent bib recalls over at NotChinaMade.net, I decided to take some of my fabric that I used recently for a diaper and make a bib!

The back makes good use of an old towel and I included a velcro closure on it because I hate to tie things around baby's neck.

This took all of about 5 minutes to make! Think I may use some of my extra fabric & list some in My Etsy Shop to go along with my tag blankets!

And the test drive... it works!

Another Fitted Diaper

The last one worked out so well that I decided to do it again! This time I used alpine fleece for the outer, which makes it waterproof! NOW I'm really loving this diaper!!! (except for those pins!)

The inside is purple floral flannel I got off the clearance rack at WM for $1/yd! Below, the pocket in the diaper has been stuffed with one microfiber towel.

And it did work! She slept in it for an about 2-hr nap today. She was wet inside, but the outside was still dry! I have a feeling I'll be making more of these puppies...
I've probably made more tag blankets since I last posted here, too. Check my Etsy Shop to see what's new.

A Fitted Diaper: RRP

You know I am new to cloth diapering... and I am scared of this diaper. It's a "fitted diaper;" it's a "pocket diaper." That means it is not waterproof. It needs a diaper pin. It's only 2 layers thick, but has a pocket that can be stuffed with whatever absorbent material I see fit. But enough of my phobia - This diaper was amazingly easy to sew. It dried in a snap. And with a mom that was paying attention, I felt it get moist, but we had no leaks even without an extra cover! But most importantly... it's ADORABLE!!!

Notice the ladybug on her bottom?
Not sure if I wrapped it around exactly right (it looks a bit bunchy) & I was scared of pinning her. Since I don't have a snap press, I may try adding velcro to this one.
All I stuffed it with for this wearing was a microfleece towel.
The pattern is called Rita's Rump Pocket (RRP) one-size flannel fitted pocket diaper. Rita, cloth diapering mom of 2, came up with this pattern and is sharing it with the world free of charge! Click here to get your downloadable RRP pattern. And let me know if you sew one and blog your pictures, too!

New Diapers!

Yes, you see correctly - I MADE DIAPERS!!! I giggle when I see them because they look so cute on Elizabeth, and because I just love to see something I made being enjoyed or used by my beautiful baby.

This pink one needs a little tweaking still, but the green one below was perfect! It did it's job quite nicely and is already going through it's first wash in the cycle of use. And it's got ladybugs on it!!!

More Tag Blankets!

When I sold one of the tag blankets I made below within 20 minutes of listing it in my Etsy Shop, I decided to make more! : ) So I got busy this weekend and made 6 more blankets out of my new fabric!

Just listed on Etsy, and first up is my ladybug tag blanket. These turned out so wonderfully. I used that minky fabric that is as soft and smooth as butter! Elizabeth went nuts while I was making this one, so she got one of the ladybug blankets to keep! See pictures of her with her blanket on my personal blog.

Groovy alien fabric sets apart this boyish tag blanket. Since my first blankets were rather girly, I was striving for something more suitable for a little boy.

Here's another girly girl blanket. This one is backed in purple satin.

Another one for the boys - this one is backed is super cute "ocean friends" flannel that is really soft & snugly. This one is one of my favorites, too.

Another girly blanket... this one has magnificent backing fabric - huge purple flowers with strawberries. I loved that fabric!

I will be listing these throughout the week in my Etsy Shop - take a peek!

Super Jo-Ann's!

Here you go, Sissy - Read it and weep, drool, whatever! This...
is the 2-story Jo-Ann Fabric & Crafts Superstore in North Dallas!

I intended to take another photo from upstairs (actually from the glass elevator), but alas, I was a little "preoccupied" and forgot!! I didn't even look at anything on the first floor. First floor was scrapbooking, floral, and other crafts. Second floor was fabric, quilting, sewing, and I think the framing department was up there.

This will be a ladybug themed blanket!

I wish I had gotten a better picture of the background fabric - it's really cute with whales, turtles, starfish, sea horses... sea themed. I thought these fabrics would make a good blanket for a boy or a girl, since all I've done so far has been more girly. Same thing with the alien fabric below.

The purple & flowers is to go with the girly fabric I've already been using. Note the ladybug!

Just another thing you'll be sorry you missed was thrift shopping! I think the most I paid for anything was $1.50! Once Upon A Child had a huge $1 section, and Super Goodwill was having a 50% off sale on everything. These are not very good pictures, but you'll get an idea of the good stuff I found! The pink skirt is Gymboree and the red dress if Ralph Lauren!

The graphic CAT!! dress is baby Gap and the smock is Ralph Lauren...

I think about half of these were Gymboree. The blue with hearts is a poncho.

Here's my biggest finds! The embellished jeans by baby Gap were 50c and the new with tags Gymboree dress was $1.25! The tag on the dress was $32!

Lastly was a cute pair of lightweight footies by Ralph Lauren in which Elizabeth looks adorable!!

Tag Blankets

Today I made a couple of tag blankets. I couldn't decide which fabric I liked best, so I pieced the front out of all of my favorite fabrics. I love how the colors all looked together! The ribbons were all different & bright, too. The back of one of them is the "Jesus and Me" fabric and the back of the other is purple satiney fabric. The hearts are felt. These blankets are perfect starting at about 6 months old, where Elizabeth is right now. Babies love to play with the ribbon loops and feel the different textures of the fabric.

Dick & Jane

Grandma's copy of Quilter's World came in the mail this week. The cover and insides featured Dick & Jane fabric! The featured quilt used the same ABC fabric that TheMomintheFamily used in one of her pennants!

This Dick & Jane fabric below was in an advertisement for The Craft Connection. Use coupon code QWF7HC for 10% off any one order!

My Cars Pennant Banner!

Having been inspired by Better Homes & Gardens, my sister, and lots of others on Etsy, I decided to make a pennant banner for David's 3rd birthday party!

So what do you think?
